Dental Applications of VarioTemp®
The VarioTemp ® unit can be used for all sorts of works in the dental laboratory or Dentist´s practice. For instance, we see significantly longer working times for refrigerated adhesive cements, an enormous benefit in assembling complex prosthetics. But also composites and waxes, the most varied impression materials and even fluids for local anaesthesia, can be brought with this unit to optimal working temperatures of between +5 °C and +70 °C.
The unit is also ideal for use with ceramics on a mixing plate – not only in summer. Cooling of the ceramic mass distinctly reduces drying out and guarantees an evenly lasting consistency of the mass, even during the entire layering for larger restorations.
During extensive layering the impression model can be pre-cooled for a time – likewise under the cover. This distinctly reduces the drying out of the layered ceramic mass on the impression model. The optimal temperature for ceramic layering must be individually determined according to the working method, the installation location and the climate of the room.
Controls :
On/Off (Power) (+) Increase numeric value
Current value display (Current Temp.) (-) Decrease numeric value
Target value display (Setting Temp.) Enter target value (Setting)
Settings :
The Power button turns the device on and off. The Setting button starts the temperature control, allowing temperatures from +5 to +70 centigrade. This Setting mode automatically turns off again after approximately 7 seconds if no further entries have been made using either the Setting, (+) or (-) buttons. The last-displayed target value (Setting Temp.) is then accepted. Each press of a button or the end of Setting entries is acknowledged by a discreet confirmation tone.
Example : Change of Setting Temp. value from 11.0 to 13.8 degrees :
Setting → (Tens value blinking) → Setting → (Ones value blinking) → 2 times (+)
→ Setting (Tenths value blinking) → 8 times (+) or 2 times (-)
Approximately 5 seconds after the last entry, the temperature entry mode turns itself off again, accompanied by the confirmation tone, and the entered temperature will be taken as the new Setting temperature. An entered Target value will remain stored in the device, even when turned off, until it is changed again.
Important Notice :
At initial startup and in case of malfunction, it is imperative to refer to the operating instructions included on CD.
• The VarioTemp Working Plate must only be operated with the original specified power supply; otherwise there is danger of either
the unit being damaged/ destroyed or the non-recommended power supply catching fire.
• Clean the device only by carefully wiping with either a dry cloth or one lightly dampened with water or a neutral disinfectant. Be
sure to unplug the device beforehand.
• The tray should be installed in a dust-free location, to prevent soiling of the internal air ducts.
• The installation surface should be a smooth plane and have at least 10 cm clearance from other devices, to ensure unimpeded air
circulation! DO NOT PLACE ON A TOWEL OR SIMILAR ITEM; this will lead to internal heat buildup and damage the device!
• Improper use or handling, as well as opening or altering the device, can damage it and lead to voiding of the guarantee.
The main technical specifications:
Power Supply Input : 120 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz
Power Supply Output : 12 VDC, 5 A, 60 W
Temperature Range : +5°C ~ +70°C
Control Accuracy : About ± (0.2°C ~ 0.3°C)
The current temperature on the display (Current Temp.) is an internal value and can vary from the actual temperature of the working plate by about 4 degrees. Variations in all illustrations and function descriptions are possible due to continuous model improvement.

Also interruptions of layering (for instance, an urgent telephone call) are no problem with the VarioTemp: just put the partially layered impression model on the glass plate and the included cover over it – that´s all!
During extensive layering the impression model can be pre-cooled for a time – likewise under the cover. This distinctly reduces the drying out of the layered ceramic mass on the impression model.
The optimal temperature for ceramic layering must be individually determined according to the working method, the installation location and the climate of the room. In most all cases this will lie around 10 degrees current temperature on the Current Temp. display. A light mat-looking film of moisture should form.
